Due:
We dipped our toes into analyzing data this chapter by creating scatter plots and finding best-fitting lines. Using best-fitting lines and understanding the pattern in the data can help us determine what kind of correlation there might be between two real life quantities. If the two quantities seem to show strong correlation, we can also use a mathematical model to make reasonable predictions in our future.
So much of our world is run on data today, and as Christians, we need to be good stewards who understand how to navigate this world well using the gifts God has given to us. Our ability to critically think, analyze, and make judgements based on solid reasoning is a gift from God. We need to continue to hone (sharpen) those skills but understand our own limitations at the same time. Respond to the following questions:
1. Find an example of where you have seen data being used to make decisions or plans in our world.
2. What are the benefits of using data to make our decisions and/or to predict the future?
3. What are the dangers of using data to make our decisions and/or to predict the future?
4. Respond to TWO other classmate's thoughts. Anything along the lines of "I agree with everything you said" or "Woah that's really cool!" will not count as a response.
